Wood Flooring

• Solid Hardwood Flooring – This is the traditional hardwood flooring option that’s been around for decades. Solid hardwood floors consist of natural wood planks. This type of flooring can last for decades, because it can be refinished periodically to offset wear and tear.
  • Prefinished – Your wood floors will come with the stain and finish already applied, which helps make the installation process go quickly and efficiently. Prefinished hardwood floors also eliminate the risk of exposure to toxic fumes from stains and finishes that can occur when installing unfinished hardwood floors. We currently and don’t plan to offer unfinished wood floors. Back in the day you could get unfinished floors that you would then add finish or stain to the wood. You would also have to get the floor sanded and leveled too. 
  • Smooth Wood Floors – These wood floors come with a smooth top that’s the same height across the whole floor. If you get scratches or dents in smooth wood floors, then it can be easy to notice. However, smooth floors do looks sleek and amazing in houses.
  • Textured/Distressed Wood Floors – These floors will have texture or coloring added to the floors to make the wood look older or rustic. If you didn’t buy distressed wood, then you can accomplish this by hand scarping or wire brushing the floors. 
• Engineered Hardwood Flooring – This option involves planks made of multiple thin layers of resin, compressed wood, and polymers on the inside. The top of the flooring does have a layer of solid hardwood on the outside. Engineered hardwood floors provide the look of solid hardwood floors for a lower price.

Sometimes you can find the flooring you want in both hardwood and engineered wood, which is highly beneficial for your house. You can then put the engineered wood in rooms more likely to get more foot traffic, scratches, or liquid spills. Once you pick the type of flooring, then you need to pick your flooring color. Our floor stores carry wood in brown, natural, black, gray, beige, blonde, rusty orange, white, red, and multi-color. There are several types of hardwood flooring species, including but not limited to oak, hickory, cherry, walnut, and maple. Therefore, you should have no trouble finding the right wood species to fit your home’s style.
